September 14, 1911

     Mr. I.S.G. Van Wart, the Liberal candidate, has been in and out of Cochrane a good deal during the past ten days in his big motor car.  He has been addressing meetings in all parts of this section of the constituency except in Cochrane, which he rightly reserves for one of his final or semi-final efforts before the vote is taken on the 21st. Inst. Mr. Van Wart is billed to submit his views and arguments to the Cochrane Electorate at the Orange Hall, on Saturday evening, and will have the valuable support of the Hon. A.I. Sifton, Premier of this province.  We have no doubt that as many voters will desire to hear the Liberal candidate as gathered to hear Mr. R.B. Bennett in the same hall on the 29th. August, and we trust that the champion of Reciprocity will receive as courteous and attentive a hearing as was accorded to his opponent.

Cochrane Exhibition

     The Second Annual Exhibition of the Cochrane and District Agricultural Society opened yesterday and is still in progress as we go to press.  The weather conditions are perfect and the attendance though comparatively small yesterday, is very satisfactory to-day.  The exhibits in the big marquee, which included grains and grasses, roots and vegetables, dairy products, plants and flowers, domestic ladies' and children's work are generally of a high order, the vegetables and roots particularly being a very fine example of what the soil of our district can produce under careful cultivation....
